Brighten Up New York!

Even though today was very cloudy, and the forecast for the week has multiple scattered thunderstorms, NYC was still busy all around! Rain or shine, nothing stops these people - everyone has some place to be or some person to see. The humidity and eventual none stop sunshine bore down, hoards of people all around us, but that didn't stop my family from taking on the ambitious agenda of what we wanted to accomplish with our short time in the city.

30 Rockefeller Plaza was our first stop, and of course we took a tour of the famous NBC studios! It was pretty surreal, seeing the set of Saturday Night Live and Late Night, and the tour itself did not disappoint. After that, we took the subway down to Ground Zero. Seeing the ways people remember 9/11 was just very emotional. It's still shocking to think about how so many people we're lost that day, but I think it shows something about our country (sorry, this is the part where I get really emotional and patriotic...) The last event of the day was heading out to the Shubert Theatre to catch the Tony award winning show Matilda. As a fan of the story itself (who doesn't love the movie?!), I made myself familiar with the cast recording about a year ago. It was so amazing to finally see it, and it actually exceeded my expectations. I knew that it would be good - even great - but it was truly a spectacular experience.

I think my highlighter yellow crossbody was statement enough, so I toned down the rest of my outfit with neutrals. My bag really just brightens up my day (hah. Get it? Because it's bright and yellow. Like the sun. Hah. Jokes.) and felt like a splash of color against the cloudy weather and gray skies. While the people you find in NYC are abundant in variety, I really wished the city was just a bit happier these last few days. Rainy weather makes me sleepy.
